Our opinion:

Rosalía surprises us with a 100% Grenache from century-old vines.

The nose is powerful, with aromas of plums, peppers, ripe but not sweet black fruits. 

On the palate, it starts off very well with a little acidity quickly followed by spice, smoky notes, vanilla from the French wood, with a fleshy finish. It leaves a tasty, balsamic aftertaste.

The Winemaker

Altolandon is a family project born out of a couple: Rosalia Molina and Manuel Garrote, who bought land in Landete, in the province of Cuenca, at an altitude of 1,080 meters in the late 1990s.

The two founders each carry out complementary work: Manuel takes care of the planting and upkeep of the vines and Rosalia of the winemaking and trading. AltoLandon wines have been produced with respect for the environment from the start.

Today, all wines are certified organic. They also go a little further by fermenting their wines with natural yeasts. The region is one of the highest in Spain.

The terroir therefore offers a good balance between acidity and maturity. The cool nights reflect acidity, and the strong sunshine brings maturity to the grapes.

The Appellation

Located at the eastern end of Castilla-La-Mancha, bordering the vineyards of the Levant, this young appellation has made a name for itself thanks to its quality production in recent years.

The climate is mild there with very reasonable temperatures in summer which allow the production of surprisingly fresh vintages.

Among other things, Manchuela wines feature the Bobal grape variety, capable of producing fruity red wines as well as more structured cuvées.
