Château de Minière, Rosé de Minière 2020

Our opinion: We have here a very pale rosé coming from the South of France. We do not smell the Cabernet Franc very strongly, but we do smell the fruit and the freshness of the rosé. It’s a pretty floral nose. In the mouth, we immediately feel a marked but pleasant acidity. It is therefore a summer rosé.

A wine to serve as soon as there are 2 sunny days! This is a beautiful rosé on the fruit for the summer. In Belgium, the month of June is therefore everything. To be released as soon as possible during the beautiful weeks of this month.

Château de Minière is located in Ingrandes de Touraine in the heart of the Bourgueil appellation. They cultivate 29ha of vines in organic farming. The variety of the terroirs allows them to offer a range of 6 wines expressing the different facets of Cabernet Franc. Kathleen Van den Berghe and her husband Sigurd Mareels, both engineers by training, fell in love with Château de Minière and decided to acquire it in 2010. Since then, they have been working to revive this estate.

The AOC Bourgueil comes from the Touraine sub-region. It is located on the banks of the Loire 50km west of Tours. There are several levels in this wine-growing landscape, the heights of which are more strongly ventilated, and a climate more subject to oceanic influences than the rest of the Touraine sub-region, due to its extreme western position. The vineyard is protected from the harshest winds from the north by a forest massif and benefits from the mildest temperatures in Touraine. This promotes ideal ripening of the grapes. While the majority of the production is red wines, a few dry, light and fruity rosé wines are added to the AOC Bourgueil. The “gravel wines” are the most present, they are supple, aromatic and fruity with a beautiful purple color. They are well kept (5 to 10 years). “Tuff wines” are full-bodied and tannic in their youth, but capable of long aging, they can flourish and present characters of very interesting aromatic complexity.
