Château Meyre, Gallen 2016

Our opinion : An infinitely famous appellation, and we understand why!
A Margaux, gold medal in Frankfort and Lyon.
The color is dark, with garnet reflections. On the nose, we directly feel an explosion of black fruits, a touch of toasted cocoa. This is accompanied by a note of vanilla and oak (thanks to the passage on wood).
On the palate, it is blackberry and spices. It’s flexible and well balanced. keep a few more years in order to enjoy them properly.

The winemaker

Château Meyre is an ancestral property of Moulis and Margaux, already celebrated for more than three centuries, and covers 17 hectares around Avensan. The status of Cru Bourgeois was awarded to it in 1932. This classification will be confirmed in 2003. In 2011, the Château Meyre becomes one of the very first Crus Bourgeois Bio.
At Château Meyre, it is important to combine the quality of the wines with respect for the environment. The goal is to make quality everything by being respectful of the planet and by protecting micro diversity. The entire estate is proud to have made the choice 10 years ago, to convert to organic, despite all the difficulties that this can bring because of a climate that is not as favorable as in other regions.
"It is the strength of their convictions and our attachment to land that drives us towards the pursuit of excellence. "

The Appellation

The AOC Margaux is the only Haut-Médoc appellation to bear the name of a Premier Grand Cru Classé, Château Margaux. It stretches south of the Médoc over 1,400 ha.

The appellation selects the best soils. It is one of the most prestigious appellations in the Médoc and also one of the largest. Margaux encompasses five municipalities: Arsac, Cantenac, Labarde, Margaux and Soussans.
The blend of Cabernet-Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot make fine, elegant wines with a harmonious, full palate, supported by a fine frame of delicate and tasty tannins. The finish is all in harmony and elegance. Margaux is a “feminine” wine, which keeps and evolves throughout its life.
