Description
The big sister of the Vincent 2018 cuvée, presented to the Explorer in December.
A delicacy of the new Corbières.
Our opinion : Manual work and knowledge of the terroir make this Château Montfin cuvée a magnificent (re)discovery of Corbières. On the nose, we immediately notice the alliance of raspberries but also liquorice. The palate confirms these spicy flavors, accompanied by grilled almonds and this long finish with chocolate aromas. All this is well coated with melted tannins.

On the slopes of the Corbières overlooking the ponds and the sea, between Narbonne and Sigean, in the protected site of Peyriac de Mer, the Château Montfin was taken over by Jérôme and Raymond Esteve in September 2002. Subsequently, a cellar of around fifty French oak barrels (from the Allier forests) was set up for the aging of certain cuvées. At the same time, they have endeavored to build up one of the richest vineyards combining traditional grape varieties and so-called “improvement” grape varieties. In fact, since 2002, the original vineyard has grown in particular with old Carignan vines over 70 years old. All of this is obviously done with the greatest respect for the soils because they practice organic viticulture associated with biodynamic and agroforestry practices. Yields are limited between 25 and 35 hectoliters per hectare.
The Corbières AOC covers an area of 11,800 hectares. It is the Languedoc appellation with the largest area. The vines are cultivated at an altitude of over 400 meters at the foot of Mont Tauch, between Tuchan and Villeneuve des Corbières.
The red wines of Corbières are fleshy, elegant and have good aging potential. They are also characterized by complex roasting aromas, especially on oriental soils which ensure great maturity to the grapes through the exceptional Mediterranean sunshine and dry summers.
