Description
The flagship cuvée of the Domaine. Old Grenache vines allied with Mourvèdre spices. La Ligière continues to surprise us over the years!
Our opinion: On this Gigondas, the dress is very clear. We have a very nice nose of red fruits mainly. And once we pass the red fruit side, there is a citrus note like pomelo, grapefruit. On the palate, it is fine, structured and tannic. Everything we want to find in this region.

Wishing to respect as well as possible the nature of their terroirs and the typicity of their wines, the estate is certified in organic farming and has been practicing biodynamics for several years. They use no chemicals and produce natural, rich and complex wines.
The farm has existed since the early 1900s, but it was not until the 1950s that Maurice Bernard (the grandfather) favored the cultivation of the vine. Father Jacques Bernard, developed the vineyard by planting numerous plots of vines to reach a total area of 50 ha. In 2008, Philippe Bernard (son of Jacques) and Elisabeth (his wife) created their own winery and continued the work undertaken by their parents by applying for certification in organic farming. They are now the 5th generation of winegrowers, and cultivate 60 hectares of vines of prestigious appellations such as Vacqueyras, Baumes de Venise or Gigondas.
The AOP Gigondas extends over 1,230 hectares of vineyard in the town of Gigondas (Vaucluse), at the foot of the famous Dentelles de Montmirail. The terroir is divided into 2 production zones: the slopes of the massif, with sandy soils on limestone and marl subsoils, and the high terrace of the Ouvèze (a tributary of the Rhône), with stony soils.
Grenache is the king grape variety of the vineyard with Syrah, and Mourvèdre in addition. AOP Gigondas produces wines recognized as powerful, robust, tannic, and with a high alcohol content, which remind us that Châteauneuf-du-Pape is not far away. Their nose is spiced with spices and a scent of black olives, and their dress is dark.
The whites, Clairette, Grenache blanc, Bourboulenc and Roussanne. Full-bodied, round and full-bodied on the palate, the red wines of Vacqueyras have notes of red fruit and violet, but also aromas of liquorice and undergrowth.
