Our opinion : The Mas Amiel presents us this very beautiful Côtes du Roussillon. The color is very luminous garnet. On the nose, we directly feel this side of very ripe red fruits, we almost even feel very ripe bananas too. On the palate, it is very juicy and young. It’s an explosion of red fruits, and a beautiful length. A very good wine with a meal!

The winemaker

The Mas Amiel estate is located in the Maury valley, in the region southwestern France, near the Spanish border.
The history of the estate begins in 1816, when the Bishop of Perpignan decides, during a game, to bet one of its lands, so named Domaine des Goudous. The bishop loses, and the estate reverts to engineer Raymond Étienne Amiel.
Since 1890, there is a historic cellar, with 30 wooden casks of Austrian oak used to age wines.
In 1907 the estate was taken over by Charles Dupuy, and passed from father to son until 1997. Since 1999, Olivier Decelle has been in charge of this historical area.

The Appellation

Côtes du Roussillon is a wine of Controlled Designation of Origin recognized since 1977 and produced around Perpignan in the Pyrenees- Orientales, and throughout the Roussillon plain. 

The main grape varieties that can be found in this region are Grenache, Malvoisie, Marsanne, Roussanne and Macabeu for the whites, and Carignan Noir, Cinsault, Mourvèdre, Grenache Noir and Syrah for reds and rosés.
