Domaine Molin, Bourgogne-Aligoté 2018

Our opinion: A Bourgogne-Aligoté as we like it. This grape variety represents all the beauty of Burgundy. Its pale gold color, accompanied by a floral, fruity nose enhanced by notes of hazelnut, make it a very elegant white wine. The palate matches the nose. It’s very fresh and floral. We recommend it with goat cheese.

Le Vigneron

Armelle and Jean-Michel Molin created this estate in 1987, which today covers 7 ha. After the arrival of their son Alexandre (in 2004) on the farm, organic conversion was initiated and certification obtained in 2010. The property is regularly selected for its fixins.

There are 3 colors there, Rosé, White and Red. The tradition remains very present while combining it with today’s methods. The estate is therefore located in Fixin, in the Côte de Nuit vineyards, in Côte-d’Or. This small village borders the two well-known appellations of Gevrey-Chambertin and Nuits-Saint-Georges. And as the locals say so well: “Whoever tastes a Fixin remembers it and comes back”.

The AOC Bourgogne-Aligoté is intended only for white wines made from the Aligoté grape variety. Bourgogne-Aligoté can be produced in the Yonne, Côte-d´Or (Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune), Saône-et-Loire and Beaujolais vineyards. So all of Burgundy. Representing 1,575 ha, Aligoté, an ancestral Burgundy grape variety, represents 6% of production in Burgundy. Coming from very different terroirs, they always have their own character that reflects their origin. These white wines remain marked by their grape variety which gives tender and dry wines with a floral and fruity bouquet, accompanied by notes of hazelnuts.
