Domaine Trichon, Rosé de Bugey 2018

Our opinion: This rosé has an old pink color. It is distinguished by its fruity character, we find aromas of red fruits with hints of blackcurrant buds. This frank and soft mouth will let you appreciate the fruitiness with a fresh ending.

Th winemaker

Concerned about respecting the nature of their terroirs and the typicity of their wines, the estate is certified organic and has been practising biodynamics for several years. They do not use any chemicals and produce natural, rich and complex wines.
The estate has been in existence since the early 1900s, but it was in the 1950s that Maurice BERNARD (the grandfather) began to give priority to vine growing. The father, Jacques BERNARD, developed the wine estate by planting numerous plots of vines to reach a total surface of 50 ha. In 2008, Philippe BERNARD (son of Jacques) and Elisabeth (his wife) created their own winery and continued the work undertaken by their parents by applying for organic farming certification. They are now the 5th generation of winegrowers and cultivate 60 hectares of vines in prestigious appellations such as Vacqueyras, Baumes de Venise, or Gigondas.

The Appellation

Bugey is located in the south-east of the Ain department, in the heart of the Lyon – Grenoble – Geneva triangle. Along the right bank of the Rhône, this vineyard, oriented from east to west on a slope and facing due south, is distinguished on certain portions by its steep slopes plunging towards the river.
Its relief, very contrasted and of any beauty reserves many surprises to the walkers but also to the amateurs and connoisseurs of wines. The hard work of a few dedicated winegrowers led to the creation of the “Appellation d’Origine Vins Délimités de Qualité Supérieure Bugey” in 1958.The continuous efforts to produce quality wines have borne fruit since the 28th of May 2009, the Bugey wines have obtained recognition as Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée: the Bugey AOC.
